Myth about hairfall
There are lot of misconceptions about hair loss and hair fall like:
- Hair Loss is inherited from mother's side Hair loss is a
hereditary factor and can be inherited from any side of parent.
- Cutting your hair timely will help and make it grow quicker
Hair strands are thicker at base as compared to tips of hair. Thus
after having trimming or cutting, your hair appears to be thick.
After normal life span of hair, your hair would drop off and new
hair comes with the same diameter as original pre-cut hair, would
grow.
- Wearing hat cause hair loss - If the hat worn is too tight that
it cut off the blood circulation from your scalp to hair follicles
than it definitely causes harm to your hair. Whereas hats help in
preserving quality of your hair, by blocking the sun and preventing
sunburn. Along with this, it also helps in excretion and
accumulation of sebum and oil from your hair.
- DHT is the main cause in hair loss - DHT is an important cause of
hair loss in males and females but it is not the only cause. There
are other various factors which are responsible for hair loss and
hair fall.
- Frequent washing and blower drying causes hair loss Excess
of everything is bad for your hair. Excessively use of strong
shampoo and dryer/blower is harmful for your hair thus can
permanently damage hair follicles.
- Losing 100 hair strands per day is normal It completely
depends upon your growth cycle of hair. In normal hair growth cycle,
a hair follicle would grow for about four to five years and in its
fifth year, follicle stop growing and enter its rest cycle. In
beginning of sixth year, hair strand would fall out and the growth
cycle starts again.
- Can increase number of hair follicles By birth, you get
all the follicles you can get. The only way to increase the number
of hair follicles is by hair transplant surgery.
- You can do nothing to prevent or treat hair fall or loss
It's completely untrue as there are several home remedies by which
you can take care of your hair. With new advances in science and
better understanding about the nutritional needs of hair, both men
and women no longer have to live with hair loss.
